Trees!

My father is a devoted tinkerer, always building another miniature railway scenery. Now he showed me how to create really lovely trees and bushes. I try to explain and show how it's done.

You need:
  • Sea cypress. I got mine from architekturbedarf.de
  • Micro foliage. I got mine from Heki, they offer four different colors
  • Micro bloom to cover the ground, also Heki
  • Express wood glue or spray-on glue
  • Hairspray
  • Quartz sand
  • Umbra
  • Paper towel
  • A brush, a cardboard box, an arosol, a little bit of patience and time
  • Rigid styrofoam (for base)
Picture
Cut the cypress until it looks like a tree. Clear the lower trunk.
Picture
Coat the trunk and the strong branches with wood glue.
Picture
Grit the trunk with quartz sand and let it dry. Repeat at discretion.
Picture
If the trunk is bulky enough, paint it umbra.
Picture
Wrap the trunk with paper towel. Prepare a 1:8 mixture wood glue /water. Spray the tree with it above the trunk. Shake carefully.
Picture
Grit the branches with micro foliage and let it dry. Make sure to place the tree upright when drying or it will get flat. Repeat once, let it dry again.
Picture
Spray tree with hairspray to harden it.
